Remote Control Handbook is an independent reference for Claude Code’s Remote Control feature, the capability that lets you start a Claude Code session on your own machine and continue it from your phone, tablet, or a browser.

Why this site exists
Official product documentation is written to be correct and complete. It is not always written to answer the question you actually typed into a search box at eleven at night when a command is not working.
This site covers the same feature from the other direction: the exact error messages people hit, the flags that are easy to miss, the difference between features that sound identical, and the gotchas that only show up once you have used something for a while.
How this site is sourced
- Everything factual here is checked against Anthropic’s official Claude Code documentation.
- Where behaviour changed at a specific Claude Code version, we name the version rather than describing only the current state. Plenty of people are running older builds.
- Where the official docs and popular summaries disagree, we follow the docs and say so explicitly. The security page is one example: Remote Control is often described as end-to-end encrypted, and that is not what the documentation says.
- Pages carry a last-reviewed date. If a page has not been checked recently, that date will tell you.
If you find something out of date or wrong, please tell us. Corrections are the most useful thing you can send.
Where we disagree with the official documentation
This site is not a restatement of Anthropic’s docs. The clearest way to show that is to list the places our reading differs from what is commonly published elsewhere, including on this site before we checked it.

We also compile things the documentation records but never gathers in one place. The version compatibility page collects release notes scattered across a long page into a single table, so you can tell whether the behaviour you are seeing is a bug or an older build. Nobody else has written that down.
Who writes this
Remote Control Handbook is written and maintained by Ravindra Patil, a developer who uses Claude Code daily and started this site after losing an evening to a Remote Control error the official documentation explained in a sentence buried three screens down.
Every page here is written from the official documentation and from actually running the thing, not from memory or from other people’s summaries. Where the two disagree, the disagreement gets written down rather than smoothed over.
Corrections, questions and “you got this wrong” messages all go to the same place: the contact page. Corrections get priority, because they affect what every other reader sees.
